Founded on Sydney's Northern Beaches by Nick Reader and Ryan Blackshaw, Bayside Leashes was born from a shared passion for craftsmanship, coastal living, and the companionship of dogs.

From the Water to the Workshop

For co-founder Nick Reader, craftsmanship has always been a way of life.

As a professional rigger with decades of experience working with rope, load-bearing systems, and precision rigging, Nick has spent countless hours perfecting techniques where strength, reliability, and attention to detail are non-negotiable.

Many of the same principles used in marine rigging—are now applied to every leash we produce.

The result is a product that feels different in your hand because it is built differently from the start.

At the heart of the brand are three very special Boston Terriers—Kimchi, Miele, and Fischer—whose daily walks, adventures, and personalities continue to inspire everything we create.

A leash is one of the few products that accompanies both owner and dog through thousands of shared experiences over many years.

That's why we believe it deserves to be built properly.

Every Bayside Leashes product is handcrafted in our Sydney workshop using premium marine-grade rope, carefully selected hardware, and proven construction techniques. Every piece is reinforced, inspected, and stress-tested before it leaves our hands.

Not because it's required.
